A Literary Event: Chang-Rae Lee to Hold Reading/Book Signing

Los Angeles, CA April 14, 2004 –- Author of such critically acclaimed and award winning novels as Native Speaker and A Gesture Life, Chang-Rae Lee will be holding a formal reading, Q & A, and signing of his most recent work Aloft, a wonderfully written tale about family and the American dream.

Aloft has already received high praise from numerous critics and, according to Variety, has already been slated for motion picture development by producer Scott Rudin, a driving force behind such feature length films as The Hours, Angela’s Ashes, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Wonder Boys.

This event is scheduled for April 23, 2004, 6:30 p.m., at the S. Mark Taper Foundation Community Center at the City of Los Angeles Public Library, Pio Pico Koreatown Branch, located at 694 S. Oxford Ave. in Los Angeles, CA. The event is presented by The Korean Book Center, in association with The Friends Group of the Pio Pico Library and Penguin Group. It will be open to the general public and entry is free of charge. Simultaneous Korean translation will also be provided.

Chang-Rae Lee was born in South Korea and immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of three. He is currently a professor of writing at Princeton University and is considered by The New Yorker to be one of the best writers under forty. He has received numerous awards for his books, including the Barnes & Noble Discover New Great Writers Award, the Hemingway/PEN Award for first fiction, the Ainnsfield-Wolf Book Award, Gustavus Myers Outstanding Book Award, among numerous others. His works have appeared in The New Yorker, The Best American Essay, The New York Times, and various other publications and anthologies.
